I assume this will be the shop that was going to be Plus+ and then Plus+ went down the pan after just having been bought out by Carrefour.

Iceland's financial backers are one of the Icelandic banks (no surprise there).

Maybe they will not open?? we could all have a whip round for them I suppose.

Didnt know Icelands did cooked chickens!
Good news about the milk & cream though. Could never find fresh cream or soured cream in the Spanish supermarkets, they must use cream, everyone uses cream!
I do love shopping in the Spainsh supermarkets, love the different kinds of food and products available. But sometimes I do miss a few things from home, you can usually get anything you want from international supermarkets, but I begrudge paying there way over priced prices. I understand the Icelands prices are more or less the same as the UK prices which is excellent!

I think they will - people may still use them for the odd pint of milk, but if there is an Icelands down the road that sell quality British products at the British Icelands prices, well, I know where I would go!
It will be good to be able to pick up a decent loaf of bread and not have to pay over £2 for it! Even Spanish bread is not that cheap! I do like the lovely sweet taste of Spanish bread though, but find the slices far too small!
We as a family end up using nearly a whole loaf for toast at breakfast!

It's all down to the cost of flour.

Taken from a newspaper article on rising flour costs.....

The price of flour has doubled in the last 2 months, due to weather problems around the world including 2 years of drought in Australia. Also, farmers are switching to other crops such as canola or corn. The stocks of wheat are at their lowest since the 1970's. The Wheat Board estimates it will take up to 3 years of strong harvests to rebuild world stocks.

So not only will bread increase but we can look to other products such as pizza, pasta etc. going up in price.
