I tried Googling and don't get that message, Steve.

However, I can understand the logic, as most such searches would presumably be done by people who don't already use this forum, and Jan and Alex understandably would prefer people to just use the new forum.

Your Google search is just showing the message on the home page under the "Old Chat Forum" which I think was just for La Marina area at first, whereas the new section was started when the forum wanted to expand coverage apply other areas of the Costa Blanca. I'm sure one of the old hands can correct me if this is incorrect.

You are more than likely right, Martin - i am afraid I'm not into this techno stuff!

Keeping the forum alive ....

When all else fails, we love to chat about the weather - I keep on hearing how hot it is in Spain at the moment. We rarely visit the area in August due to the heat but this year we are coming out in about two weeks time.

I've found keeping off carbs helps me cope with the heat - so how do others cope when it gets too hot if you don't have air conditioning - any tips would be very much appreciated!

(Btw, it's pouring with rain as I look out the window in Blighty!)

We've had a few spots, but would love a good downpour.

I'm working on a big clean-up job in the garage (workshop), but have to come in every half an hour or so to cool down under the office aircon, with the sweat literally dripping off me from my exertions. I've had the aircon running since about 5.00 this morning, and the air is so humid the aircon has produced at least fifteen litres of water so far. Without the aircon, I'd just have to get one of the fans running and stand in front of that.

This is the time of year when we start losing our tans, because it's too hot to work or sit outside or go walking, and when we do have to go out we lurk on the shady side of the street - unlike the holiday makers, and we've seen a few of them looking like lobsters.

I think you're brave coming out in August - be prepared to take it easy and spend time in the pool.

We don't brave it till early September. I don't mind the heat during the day, I just stay in the shade and keep well lubricated! But I find it really hard to sleep properly if the nighttime temperature is too high, which tends to spoil a holiday. I guess I should look at getting aircon in the bedroom, but it's just easier to stay away when the temperature peaks.

took the grandpups to the thermal pool at Banos de Fortuna today and it rained for a short while this morning - swimming in an outdoor pool with a constant water temperature of 36 degrees, in the rain - brilliant!!

In response to Amarillo - iced sangria, and failing that - more iced sangria (not when driving, obviously!)

we moved out here in august 9 years ago and come january,with no central heating and no insulation we were frozen (weve since got log burner ect.) so we said to each other that from then on we would never complain about the hot july/august ever again,and we dont!!!

We too found it a bit chilly in the winter months and, not really wanting a portable gas heater, we bought a 'proper' wall-mounted gas fire from Ambifuego which keeps the lounge snug and warm as required. Although we have mains gas now, the lounge is some way from the gas entry point, so the fire runs from a butane bottle on the balcony (which is removed from March to November) and so far, it has only used one-and-a-bit bottles per year.

Thank for your the suggestions - taking it easy with a sangria or two - I can manage that!

Sangria, of course, has the added the advantage that I'm pretty sure that it counts for a few of your one-a-day!!

Winter on the other hand, as you say has it's own problems ....
