Cosecha Restaurant, Benijofar (the new Viloriens) - Restaurant, Bars, Recommendations

I haven't been yet, and don't know the full story, but understand this was opened a few weeks ago by ex-Viloriens people.

The reports I've had so far have been very good, and the place is apparently always busy.

If you want to try it, from the traffic lights on the cobbles, go straight ahead on the CV920 towards Algorfa. At the roundabout take the first exit, staying on the Algorfa road. In about 300 metres there's a bend to the right - it's in an elevated position on the left hand side of that bend.

Closed Sunday evenings and Monday.

I wouldn't normally post without personal experience but, as I say, the reports have all been good. Anyone want to go with us?

Just come back from lunch at La Cosecha restaurant.......brilliant meal. (Yes it is the old Vilorians chef). 12-95? lunchtime & 14-95? evening,

Salad, bread, 3 courses inc half bottle of wine.

I had..

Pate en croute.

Pork loin, fabulous hand cut chips and a selection of veg.

Caramel apple pie & custard.

There are about 5 or 6 choices of starter, main and dessert so something for everyone.

Will certainly be going back. Best to book. 966 194 018

We went last night for a meal with family. Very disappointed. Nothing special about it, very noisy, service wasn't great and very unimpressed with the owners attitude. We couldn't recommend it and certainly won't be back.

We went with friends for lunch earlier in the week.

On the plus side:

The service we had was friendly and efficient.

The setting with the views out of the windows is excellent.

Cushions were provided on the seats.

The food we had was excellent.

On the negative side:

The chairs with their very upright backs became very uncomfortable after a little while.

Although I can't fault the food we had, it was too much like what we eat at home.

When we go out to eat, we like to have something different to what we eat at home. To me, this is the sort of place where you take friends and visitors who 'won't eat that foreign muck'.

Perhaps we're spoilt, but as long as we've got places like Vieja Posada, Charlots, & Alquilbla within ten minutes from where we live, we won't be rushing back to the Cosecha.

Hi Jim

Interested in your comments on the restaurants around your area. Called at Vieja Posada just for a coffee and to sus out the place and think we will return for the menu!

Restaurante Alquibla, do they have menu del dia and menu del noche? Any prices you could quote? Do you have to book in advance?

I did have a look on Google Earth for Alquibla but seemed to find ordinary houses/buildings...no restaurants. Is it fairly new (Google haven't caught up yet) or am I just looking in the wrong place? I know it's just up the road from The Vestry so I think I could find it anyway.

Sorry for so many questions, as you say, looking for something different than the standard English type menus!

regards

Colin

Alquilbla's not changed much if at all in the years we've been here. Save me typing:

Can't remember the current price, but it's not gone up much if at all.

I tried to attach a Google Earth placemark, but that type of file isn't allowed - I assume because it's an executable. It's

W 0 degrees, 47' 49.33"

N 38 degrees 05' 14.79"

Easy to spot when you're driving - you could try Google Street View (which I find messy).

From the centre roundabout on furniture road in Almoradí, take the Rafal road. When you come to the traffic lights, left and immediately right into the car park, or park outside if there's space.

If Jesús is in, he's almost certain to do something a bit different from ordinary MDDs.

If you are going to Vieja Posada, try the Sangria. My wife had a glass freshly made up with non of the bottled c**p in it and all topped off with a good slug of brandy!

I had COFFEE!!!!!!

Exactly the same as I would of written....We have eaten during the day and popped along a few days later for an evening meal...Dont know about 14.95..For both of us, it came to nearly 70 euros and we only had one drink each and no coffee.?? When queried, we were informed that one of us had ordered off the special menu..Queried again and to add extras was bread & butter and a small extra of veg as what came up on the plates I would of said was decoration! Wont be going back or recommending to friends.

I was Googling for information on the Cosecha (as you do) & it led me to this thread. Has anyone been lately?

Those wooden seats with upright backs don't sound comfy at all, Jim, though they do have chunky looking cushions. We went to a recommended restaurant in Heredades, Rojales, in a trading estate area, they had those type, no cushion to sit on though just the rope type seat, my btm & back were in agony before leaving. I sat on my fleece jacket!

This was it!

We've not been back to the Cosecha, but we have friends who go there regularly and enjoy it. They don't complain about the chairs, but then they've both got plenty of their own built-in padding!

We actually like Casa Antonio on the poligono, although I have to agree about the chairs. I always get up and have a wander between the courses to ease my back. Last couple of times we've been, I've had gallo (John Dory) for segundo, which was very nice.
