Because we eat well at home (thanks Margaret), we never normally go out to an English restaurant. However we did recently make an exception and go out for Sunday lunch, as it isn't worth doing a full-blown roast when there are only two of us.

Carls Bar (and no - there isn't an apostrophe) was actually recommended to us by our Spanish masseur, who goes there most Sundays, and likes the gravy so much that he finishes it off with a spoon. At €9.45 for a three course meal it sounded worth trying.

It's in the corner of the plaza at Los Montesinos, not big, small tables, but a nice friendly place and Lily made us welcome. Choice of starters which we enjoyed, and main course choice was roast beef, roast lamb, turkey and tuna steak. We had friends with us and two of us had beef and two lamb. They came with all the trimmings, so the plates were overflowing, and each couple got a full gravy boat of gravy. We'd have preferred the beef pink, but it was nice and tender so no complaints. Good choice of puddings, and portion sizes were decidedly large - not that I complained about that! I did notice that the lady on the next table to us finished off a full gravy boat of gravy, plus some more besides.

Telephone is 966 72 12 72. According to their website, they're open every day, and provide a different meal every day - for examples Monday is pie night, and Friday fish and chips.

Conclusion - excellent value for what we got, and we'll be going again.
