Hi

We are new purchasers in Spain - anyone give a rough guide to monthly bills - what they will be and approximate value? Community charges?

We have a 3 bed quad but rarely there - we switch off electric whilst back in uk? Just wondered as we understand they come out by dd but don't know what funds to leave in our Spanish bank account.

Thanks Sarah

Sorry for the delay in approving your post Sarah.  We have been having problems with spammers these past few days, so I´ve had to temporarily set the forum so that first posts from members need to be approved - and I´ve only just seen yours.  Further posts of yours will automatically show now.

I hope you get the answers you seek.

You can expect to pay standard electric charges of approx 20 euro a month 2 monthly
Standard charges of water incl council tax of approx 30 euro a month 3 monthly
You can also expect .to pay bank charges for card & a/c maintenanceevery 6 months @ 30 euro This can be avoided by talking to bank
Can't help with community charges as I don't stay in a community run area

Hope you enjoy your time in you new home

Ps as a beside you should switch of water as well in case of a leak, it is expensive if you are not there to notice it . And the water company will not take any prisoners with the bill .

Thanks, John - saved me the time checking my bills.

Don't know what the situation is in the urb, but our council tax is fifty odd euros a year, and refuse collection is fifty four euros a year.

If you set up online billing with your providers, you'll be able to check what amounts are due and when. It can be a bit confusing to do so, but search this forum and you'll find advice. If that doesn't help, ask for specific advice.

If you've got a fixed line telephone, don't forget that as well.
